MAPLE Business Council Brings Attention to Canadian & American National Celebrations as Part of Cross-Border Trade Focus

Innovative Social Media Campaign Celebrates the Strong Ties and Trade Opportunities Between Southern California and Canada

TUSTIN, California – June 30, 2015 - Today MAPLE Business Council, a non-profit organization promoting trade and investment between Southern California and Canada, announced a social media campaign to bring attention to the close ties enjoyed by the two regions.

Starting on July 1st, MAPLE will launch a Twitter campaign that will issue hourly tweets on cross-border trade and investment along with tweets from member organizations throughout the 48 hour period between the end of Canada’s national founding day on July 1st, known in Canada as Canada Day, and the start of American Independence Day on July 4th.

“The intent of the campaign is to bring visibility to the opportunities for trade and investment between Southern California and Canada,” said Stephen Armstrong, chief marketing officer of MAPLE. “The timing of the U.S. and Canadian national celebrations are in close proximity to each other. This led us to consider how MAPLE and our members could bridge the two nations’ celebrations with news about the scope and vitality of our relationship with Canada here in Southern California,” Armstrong added.

“MAPLE has struck a chord with the Southern California business community,” said Robert Kelle, chairman and president of MAPLE. “Since our launch announcement in May, we have welcomed leading organizations such as the IP law firm, Knobbe Martens Olson and Bear LLP, global franchising consulting firm, Edwards Global Services, and Canadian & U.S. media services firm, Media-Corps.”

Earlier this month MAPLE held its inaugural networking event at the conference facility of member organization, Knobbe Martens Olson & Bear, LLP. “We received a very positive response to MAPLE as a new forum for cross-border trade and investment and to connect Southern California businesses with Canadian ties. We will be hosting quarterly meetings throughout Southern California with our next event to be held in early September,” added Kelle.

The MAPLE social media campaign will comprise hourly tweets from the end of July 1st , Canada Day, to midnight July 4th via the MAPLE twitter site @maplesocal.
